Our Story
The Bra for Life has become our mission at Barola Inc. Our founder and owner, Kristen Airhart saw a need to develop a bra that would fit all shapes and sizes and give confidence to women throughout the challenges they face in their lives.
Kristen's mother Becky passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer a month before the birth of Kristen's second child. She sought for a way to keep her mother's memory alive for her children and help other women. Considerable time and dedication was put forth to create a new, innovative product. She envisioned a product to offer support, give confidence and honor women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kristen drew upon her own personal experience to design a comfortable pocketed compression bra to fit all shapes and sizes. Finding a bra that fits has always been a challenge throughout her life. Kristen faced her own asymmetry issues as a young woman and has continued to have challenges with finding bras that fit through various life events including pregnancy, nursing, travel, mobility issues, and post-surgical procedures.
To bring the Barola Bra to life, Kristen sought out professionals from bra designers, retailers, surgeons and breast cancer survivors. She partnered with a New York City designer and manufacturer to make all bras in the USA. She sourced fabrics which only used EPA approved environmetally friendly treatment processes or were organic. Fabric selection was critical to the design to ensure our bras offered benefits to women that included moisture wicking, anti-bacterial, non-toxic, breathable, soft, and cool to touch. The result is the launch of our first collection with two bra styles named after survivors that fit all shapes and sizes from a 2 to 2X. Barola, the Bra for Life.
